Ascent Club Hosts First Edition of the Board Visibility Evening, Spotlighting Africa’s Board-Ready Female Executives

Lagos, Nigeria | November 22, 2025
Ascent Club, founded by leadership and visibility expert Dr. Glory Edozien, has successfully hosted the Ascent Board Visibility Evening. Ascent Club is a leading visibility launchpad for board-ready and speaker-ready female executives, and the Board Visibility Evening is one of its initiatives designed to position exceptional women for board and advisory opportunities across the continent.

Held at an exclusive venue in Lagos, the event convened board chairmen, non-executive directors, investors, entrepreneurs and senior executives who are committed to shaping the future of governance and corporate leadership in Africa.

A Curated Evening of Visibility, Strategy and Connection

According to Dr. Glory Edozien, the Board Visibility Evening was created to address a persistent gap in leadership pipelines: many competent women are fully equipped for board service but remain unseen.

The goal of the event was to bridge the gap between board readiness and access to board opportunities.

Participants experienced:

• Speed Networking

A structured engagement that facilitated one-on-one conversations between board-ready women and high-level decision-makers.

• High-Level Conversations: Building Board-Readiness Strategies for 2026

A dynamic conversation that unpacked emerging board expectations, strategic positioning, and the practical steps leaders must take to strengthen their governance profiles.
Keynotes from established non-executive directors such as Taiwo Oyedele and Ngozi Edozien provided powerful insights on what boards are prioritizing today and shared personal reflections on their own board readiness journeys, giving participants a rare window into the mindset of seasoned board leaders.

• Dinner and Cocktails

An elegant setting that encouraged deeper connection, partnership discussions and long-term professional relationships.

• Mentors

The evening hosted some of Africa’s most respected figures in governance, finance and policy, including:

  • Bisi Adeyemi, Managing Director and CEO, DCSL Corporate Services Ltd
  • Niyi Adenubi, Co-Founder and Director, VFD Group
  • Binta Max-Gbinije, Independent Director, Nestlé CPFA
  • Vivien Shobo, Independent Non-Executive Director, Guinness Nigeria
  • Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman, Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms
  • Bimbola Wright, Non-Executive Director, Ecobank
  • Ngozi Edozien, Managing Director, InVivo Partners Ltd | Global Board Leader
  • Mr. Ibrahim Dikko – Independent Director | Finance & Governance Leader

Their participation reinforced Ascent Club’s mission to bridge visibility gaps and expand the leadership pipeline for women across Africa.

Why This Evening Matters

Across sectors in Africa, the demand for diverse, capable board leaders is increasing. However, many women with exceptional capacity still operate outside the networks and visibility channels that influence appointments.

The Ascent Board Visibility Evening was created to change that narrative by ensuring that prepared women are also visible, memorable and strategically positioned for high-level opportunities.

Participants left with:

  • Direct access to key board influencers
  • Practical insights for 2026 board readiness
  • A supportive community of accomplished and ambitious women
