Funke Bishi is a Data & AI Governance leader with over 17 years of experience spanning governance, risk, controls, and enterprise transformation across the financial services and energy/mining sectors in African and North American markets. She currently leads enterprise data governance initiatives within one of North America’s leading mining and natural resources organizations, focused on strengthening governance, accountability, trusted data foundations, and AI enablement across the enterprise.
Prior to this, Funke held leadership roles at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), one of Canada’s largest and globally recognized financial institutions, where she led and contributed to large-scale data governance, risk, and controls initiatives supporting enterprise data management, regulatory transformation, and enterprise oversight efforts. Her earlier experience across African financial markets further shaped her cross-market perspective on governance, business transformation, and organizational accountability.
With a background spanning finance, accounting, risk management, and technology governance, she brings a cross-functional perspective to helping organizations build trusted, business-aligned, and accountable data and AI capabilities.
Beyond her corporate leadership, she actively contributes to thought leadership and mentorship initiatives focused on governance, leadership visibility, and preparing professionals and organizations for the realities of the AI-driven economy.
