Lika Scott Sow is a professionally trained engineer, holding a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in mining engineering. She began her career as a mining engineer at Sabodala Gold Mine. As a trailblazer in her field, she has consistently demonstrated resilience and leadership.
In 2012, she founded Women in Mining Senegal, the first and only organization in the country uniting a diverse range of professionals to promote women’s leadership in the extractive industries. Her advocacy contributed significantly to the inclusion of gender equity in the Senegalese Mining Code in 2016, through active collaboration with government authorities.
In 2020, she was honored by Women in Mining UK as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining. Most recently, she co-founded the West Africa Mining Club, a professional network that connects mining professionals.
