Carine is a strategic ESG and Social Performance Leader with 20 years of experience in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and corporate communications across Africa and Europe. Her career spans the mining and finance sectors, where she has led high-impact sustainability strategies in complex and fragile environments, ensuring alignment with global standards such as the IFC’s Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability, and the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative.
Carine specialty lies in designing and implementing ESG and social performance strategies that deliver tangible, sustainable impact, for both communities and organizations. She has held senior leadership roles at organisations like Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), where she built the Communities and Social Performance department from the ground up, expanding the team with multifunctional talents, led social requirements compliance in areas of stakeholder engagement, land acquisition and resettlement, cultural heritage among other, driving projects in youth and women’s economic empowerment, and strategic partnerships with development institutions.
Earlier in her career, she led communication strategies for major multinational companies, including Rio Tinto’s Simandou project in Guinea, one of the world’s largest iron ore developments.
She also serves as an advisor on an investment committee of an impact investment fund in Senegal, bringing ESG expertise to private sector and development finance decisions.
Her international career has led her to live and work in various African and European countries, enriching her multicultural approach and her ability to manage projects in diverse contexts.
