Soraya Hakuziyaremye is a seasoned economist and policymaker with extensive experience in financial regulation and economic governance. Before her appointment as Governor, she served as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda and previously held the role of Minister of Trade and Industry from 2018 to 2022.
With a strong background in international finance, Hakuziyaremye has worked with major financial institutions, including BNP Paribas and ING Bank, specializing in risk management and compliance. She has also been an advocate for financial inclusion, particularly in ensuring that Rwanda’s banking sector serves all citizens, including women and small businesses
