Elizabeth Marabwa is a Chief Director in the Department of Energy with over 20 years of experience in energy policy, regulation, and project management in South Africa. She has worked across liquid fuels, gas, and electricity, shaping policies and managing large-scale projects.
Beyond government, Elizabeth has international energy expertise, collaborating with IEA, SADC, African governments, and global financial institutions. She has played a key role in integrating South Africa’s energy centres and contributes to global energy discourse as a reviewer of the World Energy Outlook and chair for the Africa Energy Outlook special report.
Her academic background includes an MA in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe, a BA Honours in Economics, and an MA in Commerce from WITS. She also holds certifications in Utility Regulation from the University of Florida, Petroleum Policy from Petrad in Norway, and Project Management.
