Dr. Milicent Omukaga is a finance and gender expert dedicated to creating economic opportunities for women and youth in Africa, particularly in Kenya. As Head of Programs in a pan-African financial network, she launched the Fin4Ag platform, transforming financing for rural women in agribusiness. In her role as General Manager at a women’s microfinance bank, she managed a $200 million credit portfolio, expanding it by 40% while supporting 400,000 women with tailored capacity-building programs.
At a state-owned financial institution, she spearheaded the Women Affirmative Access-to-Finance Window (WAAW) to enhance funding for women in agribusiness. At the African Development Bank (AfDB), she established a credit guarantee scheme to de-risk women’s enterprises and launched the Gender Equality Trust Fund (GETF) to drive women’s economic empowerment across Africa.
Recognized for her impact, she has received the Angaza Award as one of East Africa’s top women in finance and the Kenyan First Lady’s commendation for advancing financial inclusion for women and girls.
