Dr. Towela is a seasoned development practitioner and electrical engineer with over 20 years of experience spanning the private sector, academia, and international development. She has a proven track record in program development, stakeholder engagement, and implementing regional and continental infrastructure projects.
For 15 years at the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), she played a key role in advancing major initiatives, including the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), the Africa Water Investment Program (AIP), the AU Digital Transformation Strategy, and the Continental Power System Masterplan (CMP).
Passionate about infrastructure development, energy, and digitalization, Dr. Towela is committed to Africa’s transformation in line with AU Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In her current leadership role at the AU-EU Energy Partnership, she drives collaboration between Africa and Europe to shape a sustainable energy future.
